Neymar to wear No. 11 at Barcelona

Neymar has been given the No. 11 shirt to wear in his debut Barcelona season.

The forward could potentially have taken the No. 7 following David Villa's move to Atletico Madrid, but the Brazilian is set to line up for the Catalans in Thiago Alcantara's old number following the midfielder's 20 million euro transfer to Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich.

The club made the jersey announcement in an unorthodox fashion, doing so via the loudspeakers in the official team store at Camp Nou.

Neymar is accustomed to wearing the No. 11. Although he wore the No. 10 shirt during the FIFA Confederations Cup with Brazil, he has previously worn the No. 11 with the Selecao.

He also adorned a No. 11 jersey at Santos en route to scoring more than 100 league goals for the Brasileirao side.
